Some Context on Barack Obama and Rashid Khalidi

Once again, we have another radical connection to Barack Obama and once again the MSM has absolutely no interest in investigating this connection. The most comprehensive report on Obama's connection to Rashid Khalidi has come from Sean Hannity.

The audience can decide if the piece is fair, however there is no doubt that the piece is troubling. Yet, Khalidi's connection to Barack Obama is one of a long list of troubling connections between Barack Obama and radicals that the MSM has chosen to totally ignore.

Now then, first here is a quick run down on who Rashid Khalidi is. Rashid Khalidi is currently an academic. He currently works at Columbia University and he has spent time at the University of Chicago. While there, he came into contact with Barack Obama, who was also a professor. In the 1980's though, he was a communications chief for the Palestinian Liberation Organization. The PLO was a chief sponsor of terror throughout the 1970's, 1980's, and 1990's, including their offshoot Black September kidnapping and killing eight Israeli athletes in the 1972 Munich Olympics.

Now, what we have is the second connection between Senator Barack Obama and a former terrorist. Furthermore, when Barack Obama was on the Woods Foundation, along with Bill Ayers the other former terrorist that Barack Obama is close to, they gave money to a foundation that Khalidi was in charge of.

According to the L.A. Times, Obama attended a going away party for Khalidi in which anti Israel venom was spewed.

During the dinner a young Palestinian American recited a poem accusing the Israeli government of terrorism in its treatment of Palestinians and sharply criticizing U.S. support of Israel. If Palestinians cannot secure their own land, she said, "then you will never see a day of peace."

One speaker likened "Zionist settlers on the West Bank" to Osama bin Laden, saying both had been "blinded by ideology."

...
His many talks with the Khalidis, Obama said, had been "consistent reminders to me of my own blind spots and my own biases... It's for that reason that I'm hoping that, for many years to come, we continue that conversation -- a conversation that is necessary not just around Mona and Rashid's dinner table," but around "this entire world."

By God, I say that the participation of the sons or daughters of the Arabs in the plans and affairs of this institute is a huge error, this Israeli institute in Washington, an institute founded by AIPAC, the Zionist lobby, and that hosts tens of Israelis every year. The presence of an Arab or two each year can’t disguise the nature of this institute as the most important center of Zionist interests in Washington for at least a decade. I very much regret the participation of Arab officials and non-officials and academics in the activities of this institute, because in fact if you look at the output of this institute, it’s directed against the Palestinians, against the Arabs, and against the Muslims in general. Its products describe the Palestinians as terrorists, and in fact its basic function is to spread lies and falsehoods about the Arab world, of course under an academic, scholarly veneer. Basically, this is the most important Zionist propaganda tool in the United States.

So, what do we have? There is no question this guy is a radical and a former terrorist. There is no question that Barack Obama and Khalidi have had an association that has spanned years. There is no question that this association has links to other radical associations that Obama has as well. Yet, the rest of the MSM has shown absolutely no interest in investigating this story. Furthermore, it appears that the L.A. Times is withholding the videotape of this event. Now, my problem with all of Obama's radical associations is that they appear to be never ending. We are about to elect someone President who has as associates, friends, colleagues, business associates, a political allies a series of radicals that are frankly the norm not the exception. Furthermore, it appears that all of these associates are not worthy of any investigation for most of the MSM.

There is one other very troubling aspect to this story. In the Hannity piece, Barack Obama defends his association with Khalidi by pointing out that Khalidi was an academic. This isn't the first time that Obama has used this defense. He has said much the same thing about his association with Bill Ayers. What's troubling is how the university system in America mainstreams and former murderers like Ayers and Khalidi with far too much regularity. By allowing these people to be professors, it also gives them a level of credibility that such a post provides. Why would a place like the University of Illinois at Chicago hire a former terrorist like Ayers? Why would institutions like the University of Chicago and Columbia hire a former terrorist like Khalidi? Are those the type of folks that should be in such close proximity with our youth? Is it really appropriate for our university system to give them credibility by providing them with jobs and a platform for their radicalism?
