Demasi Sentenced to 60 Months

Today at about 1PM Central Time, US District Judge Rebecca Pallmeyer sentenced Anthony A. Demasi to 60 months in federal prison. I should have a follow up on this in the weeks to come but in the meantime, here's my feature on this saga, the most complete reporting Demasi's story anywhere.

He should have got a lot more. He stole money from some good decent people. He is a narcistic little man, who hit women. Everything he did, he did for himself, while claiming all he wanted to do is make people money, then using their cash for his own purposes.
Long ago, before all the charges, he said he couldn't quit with the investing, people were going to hate him, This man new what he was doing and didn't care about anyone but himself. This includes his family and others who actually loved him.
Shame on the government for believing this man at all. They too were told what Tony was made of. I don't care if he did cooperate. Where is the justice for all the people he swindled? 5 yrs for over 4 million...hmmmm. That will show all those other swindlers out there!
Well at least for the next 5 yrs all he can swindle & con are the cons themselves. Who's trash now Tony?

I am devastated that he only got 5 years. He is a compulsive liar that turned a cash cow into a pawn for his compulsive gambling and other addictions. He ruined the reputations and hard work of others who associated with him. The governemnt clearly did not do their due dilligence on researching this maniac. He is basically a 2-bit criminal similar to madoff. Justice will be served by inmates. Clearly he did not calculate what he could have given to the govenment (which was nothing becuase he initiated all the criminal acts) relative to the adverse effects of his cowardice in prison. If he doesnt get annihilated and ravaged in prison for trying to set up other criminals, he will get what is coming to him after he returns from prison. Financially, physically, and emotionally.

With all due respect, I was in the courtroom yesterday and you weren't there. I say that because the only victim, Marko Ouzounian, spoke in support of Demasi.

If you were really this devestated by how light the sentence was the proper thing to do was to show up in court and speak against him there. That you didn't and instead come in here ANONYMOUSLY says plenty about you.

I do not care what anyone says, I know Tony and his is not a good guy, he is a GREAT guy. I have known him forever, he has been unfairly prosecutor because he is in the public eye..but i was at his sentencing and he will do 2 years and 9 months real time and is even appealing that sentence. For anyone that was not there they have NO CLUE what they are talking about...And YES that girl Stephanie Abraham IS TRASH! I pray he wins his appeal so he can stick it to and laugh at all the haters who keep writing and will make his royalties for the book an movie soar!

I worked at the reserve night club Tony owned. He was a good guy to work for and always repectful of me, nice to be around, and treated the employees beyond right. I was just 22 when I worked there and work other places since that care nothing about their employees. He kicked out one of the biggest client's in the city that spent a minimum of 5K each time in the door for abusing his servers including me. On the other hand it was the investors in the company, like the ones commenting, that were acting like hot shots, throwing their money around, giving advice of how to run the place when it was clear they knew nothing about it. One wormy looking guy actually told me how to pour a drink, right before his pathetic agressive attempts to hit on me and all the other servers. Two night later he was in with his serious girl friend and looked completely panicked like I was going to say sometihng. Sounds like a similar premise, the same wealthy snobs lost a little money (which they invested in a night club and high risk trading fund btw)are now shooting their mouths off ananomously once again acting like they know everything...if Tony makes a come back and does get a boat...I will go on it with him as well and knowing the way Tony is and his big intelligent thinking he probably will find a way.

All of you who know him or are great friends standing behind him.. I knew him very well. I talked to him up to the very end. I lost money with him. Now I just want to go visit him. The Bureau of Prisons lists him finally and gives him a register number 41117-424 but says that his location is "NOT IN BOP CUSTODY"? Now this is odd. Given he could be with the US Marshall geting transported from State to Federal facility but this has been his status for weeks now and he should have gone right from court to jail then straight to prison.. they do not give financial criminals time to report as they are a flight risk. SOOOOOO?? What is the deal? I just want to go see the guy. Maybe send him a magazine. Is he is WITSEC? There is such a thing as Witness Protection for federal inmates too you know. They did state he was wearing a wire during his trial. How much of a threat is he really? Someone would have taken care of him long ago if he was a real problem. So where is Tony Demasi? Has anyone even cared to follow up and find out? I bet you $4.7 million big ones that he would love to get a visit from a friendly face.

I heard something that will blow your socks off!! I saw him out in Chicago and he was hammered the other night: I know one of the guys and one of the girls he was out with...they both told me that he is not going to jail, but needs to disappear for a period of two years while somethings happens..they did not really know what or how (but said if he came back during that time period there were a lot of conditions..they told me he was getting ready to move someplace warm...but all I know is I was shocked to see him and he looked really happy.

Anonymous said...

Are you certain you saw him? I thought they made him report right after the sentencing? I have heard some very strange things too...(that they confined him for a while 6 months then made him live someplace other than Chicago)...I also heard that for his help they set him up with living in Florida after the 6 months pass..another person told me that they found a lot of money and are tracking the source but do not think it has anything to do with the case

Well well.. I dont know what makes you think he is not going somewhere with walls.. He was sentenced to 5 years in federal Pen. It is true he was listed as "NOT IN BOP CUSTODY" as of Sept. 7 and although unlikely, he may have been allowed to take care of some personal issues prior to reporting but most likely he was being held in local jail until the US Marshalls could get to him. It appears that has happened as the BOP Inmate Locator now shows him as "IN TRANSIT". He is in Marshall Custody and is being moved most likely to Oklahoma City where he will be classified as Minimum, Medium or Max and then he will again be "IN TRANSIT" to a federal facility that has appropriate accommodations. It is possible he may be going to a prison that is in some place warm but most likely they will put him in a facility that is closest to his family so they can visit. This is not always the case but they do try to make it reasonable to have family visitors and such. IF he was out and drunk, that sounds just like something Demasi would say.. Look. He just got sentenced and used to be the man around town. He is super embarrassed and probably heard those words fly out of his mouth before he even knew he was saying them. Unfortunately that just is not the way the federal justice system works. 5 Years is a LONG TIME no matter how you slice it. With no eligibility for parole in federal cases, the likelihood they would allow him to go free to report later especially under the last post suggesting they found large sums of money they are tracking.. There was no real magic here. He was in with the right crowd, greased the right people, bought some reasonable credibility and ultimately let one small mistake turn into several larger ones until he was too far underwater to reasonably recover and his state of panic became obvious to those of us who had money in with him. My investment was small in comparison to some of the others I know about and I think that was largely the reason he was able to get mine back to me (even though the profits never materialized)... Most of us are one small mistake away from things spiraling out of control and I cannot wait to find out where he lands so I can take him a magazine and some stamps!

In regards to this last comment...He did not say that to me..the people he was out with said it...he never said a word about anything..I barely talked to him..while I agree with the last comment about how things usually work, with this case nothing has been usual. Anyway I guess it really does not matter; We probably will never really know the whole story anyway. But I for just knowledge and entertainment reasons I really wished I did know.

You guys are nuts...Demasi was playing the role the whole time. He was working with the Feds and cut a deal. He is not going into a general population prison. I want to know more about the post that talked to someone that was out with him. I know there is much more behind this story and I know that he figured something out. I want to get to the whole truth too.

Look most people are not Demasi. This guy came out of nowhere, had nothing, and became wealthy and powerful. It was just the start for him too, he was so young to have accomplished all that he did. He had a lot more going that most people know about anyway. I am best friends with one of his ex-managers and they had plan after plan and everything I was told before it happened came true. I do not want to sound like a conspiracy theorist but no one seems to know the whole truth and no one seems to know what really happened in the end. Yes, we know about the court sentencing, but after there are 100 different rumors. One of the rumors was he had money that he agreed to pay and agreed to leave town if he got sentencing reduced to a psych program and community service...I also heard he was granted permission to leave the country to do something...anyway if anyone know more facts or more about the underbelly of this story I would like to know...

There is no Magic here... Best friends with one of his managers? You sound just as naive as you probably are.. His status just changed. He is going to prison. Federal prison. He will go to Oklahoma City first most likely and you will find out in the next few days when his status goes from "In Transit" to where ever they are taking him. Check it out for yourselves!

check back on that post in a week, two weeks...I bet he will still be "in transit"..you know why, bc he made a deal...they have to put something up on that site...but watch it will not change because he is not in prison!

Anonymous said...

I agree with the post before...the government does not even know what to tell the public because he is not incarcerated..."in transit" will be posted on that site for a very long time!

Anonymous said...

That website did just update... a week ago it said "NOT IN BOP CUSTODY".. Now it says In Transit. He is going away. there was no deal. YOu can call the Clerk of the court and they will tell you. Sorry but his sentence was the "DEAL"...

Anonymous said...

As far as I am concerned he can stay out...if he really did wrong he has the ultimate judge to answer to. I still can not see how what he did was that bad. If you read between the lines, this is a political press lead prosecution. He did what most small business owners do, and his sentence was WAY more than necessary. Compare his sentence to others that did far worse but got less. That is why I am buying into the fact that there is more behind this sentence than the public really knows...

Demasi should be the new spokes person for Dos Equis Beer...he definitely is "the most interesting man in the world"...my only regret is I did not get to know him even better. It is also obvious the guy was too good for that club scene and others got jealous. It is almost impossible that he did not bury a good chunk of money someplace. I hope the comment above is not true and they did not find it all. I want this guy to make a comeback....that might be the best story ever!

Anonymous said...

Why does everyone want to hate on everyone so badly?..people come onto a web site and say "oh...he should have got a lot more" or "he is definitely in transit"...who are all of you to judge and who are all of you to know the justice system? I am a lawyer and I am his friend. That guy did not deserve any of this BS. He paid for his crimes long ago. He dated, Stephanie Abraham, the biggest whore piece of shit on the planet, that is punishment enough. He got so much taken from him including his law license and a ton of money and force to pay over a million in defense funds. Now everyone seems to know what is going on and where he is, but I know him and you guys are dead wrong! Let me tell you another thing about Demasi, he will come back and will win..and I bet all of you haters and know it alls anything you want, you will see him WAY before 5 years! Obviously, none of you even understand the federal system or how it works..there are other programs, time off, and witsec cooperation programs (but I also know he did not even tell them half the stuff they wanted from him) He provided info on the scum that stole money from him and his company and people he knew committed a massive securities fraud out of state. Everyone thinks he turned on all the politicians and OC people, but he did not (maybe he should have)..that is how he remained in Chicago with his head up. Yes, he is gone for a while and will be missed but do not talk about what you do not know. Everyone that takes shots at the guy behind anonymous emails and hidden letters should grow a set and put their name to the disparaging remarks. I guarantee if any of you had the government tear your lives or businesses apart you would not deal with it half as well as he did.

I went to law school with Anthony Demasi at Georgetown. This makes very little sense to me. I was in some classes with him and studied with him quit a bit. The guy was a mental machine! I met a lot of bright people in school, but he was very intelligent as well as extremely savvy. Another odd point is he studied securities and tax law, white collar crime, and worked at the SEC through school. I know he had a lot of great job offers out of school and ended up on Wall Street for a while. I kept in touch with him some (probably not as much as I should have), but he was a great guy in school and the entire time I was close to him. He had comfortable money during school too. Furthermore, there is no doubt he could have accomplished anything he wanted. Therefore there has to be a much larger story to this dark commentary. If anyone hears please post where he ends up so I can touch base. I will try to phone his family as well and figure it out.
