That appears to be the jist of several emails just released under FOIA. I received seven such emails like the one to the left. This one is to Toby Roth Jr, the school's Washington lobbyist. As a paid state employee, Peters is of course prohibited from working on partisan activities. Furthermore, as an educator, it goes against all standards to use his position to further his own current political campaign.
Words like smoking gun are vague and have a nebulous meaning in my mind. That said, these emails leave little room for debate. They paint a fairly clear picture. Peters, who simultaneously is teaching and running for Congress, was actively soliciting his own colleagues for campaign funds.
This is another in a set of events that confirms the suspicions of Dennis Lennox and his group, Students Against Gary Peters. It is becoming more and more clear that Peters' hire didn't merely have the appearance of impropriety but was in fact nefarious.
