Iran said Monday it would try three Americans jailed since crossing the border from Iraq in July, a step certain to aggravate the U.S. at a time when Tehran is locked in a standoff with the West over its nuclear program.
Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki did not say when proceedings would begin or specify the charge other than to say the Americans had "suspicious aims." In November, however, authorities accused the Americans of spying.
There are concerns in the U.S. that Iran could use them as bargaining chips in talks over its nuclear program or in seeking the return of Iranians they say are missing.
So, the geopolitical dance continues.

Does show trial imply you actually think these people weren't involved in espionage?
I won't even dignify that with any response beyond this. Are you serious?
Are YOU serious? You make it sound axiomatic that these guys were taking some kind of pleasure stroll through an active war zone and drug smuggling region. It doesn't take some communist to suspect a military/intelligence purpose to their trip.
You can use all the big words you want, but it won't make your argument any stronger. If they were spies, they wouldn't have gotten caught. I don't think there's an active war zone there anyway. College age students are known for doing all sorts of reckless things.
