Mahmoud's Whirlwind tour of the Big Apple

(Update) While this was also originally written in September, I don't believe the nature of the regime has changed much since then.

Well, Mr. Ahmadinejad is going to have quite a week this week, he will speak at the United Nations, Columbia, and the National Press Club. I have already heard the reasoning for allowing the President of the world's leading state sponsor of terror for speaking at these institutions. We need to engage with him, challenge him, and allow for debate. Well, what all of these well meaning and well intentioned people just don't realize is that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is a sociopath, a person totally devoid of conscience and empathy, and one common trait of all sociopaths is their ability to manipulate every situation. Right now, he and the mullahs are feeling lonely. Everyone from the Sunni Muslim nations, to his neighbors, to even weak kneed Europeans have turned away from them. Just as they are being isolated, here Mahmoud finds an excellent opportunity to re engage with the world community.

Recently, I wrote a diary for a plan to bring Iran down peacefully. It is a three point plan, with one of the pillars being isolation. Iran is on the brink of collapse. While they are currently one of the world's leading oil producers, they import more than half their own gasoline. (this happens because they sell it to their own citizenry at a price ridiculously below market in what I can only assume is some sort of bribe to disregard the plethora of human rights and other violations).

Pressure is being ratched up on the Iranians, vis a vis their nuclear weapons program so much, even the French are in on the act. Currently, more and more states are pressuring their pension funds to divest of companies such as Hyundai, BNP Paribas, and others who continue to accept what I can only call blood money in continuing to do business in Iran. With all of this pressure coming from all sides in this terrorist state, what we need is isolation, not engagement.

Let's look at some of the things Iran has been responsible for in the last year or so: the alphabet soup of explosive devices in Iraq that continue to kill our soldiers, a proxy war with Israel, hostage taking, extortion, and propaganda all originating in international waters, another proxy war in the Palestinian territories, and I won't even bring up the 800 pound gorilla in the room. As a result of all of this, their President will now speak at the United Nations, one of our leading universities, and one of our leading newspaper organizations.

Make no mistake everyone, Iran is our enemy in the GWOT, and we do not speak to our enemies in war time, we do not invite them to world body's to speak, and we don't have our leading institutions of higher learning invite their leader to speak...I guess we do, I should have said we can't win if we do all of this.
