The five men facing trial in the Sept. 11 attacks will plead not guilty so that they can air their criticisms of U.S. foreign policy, the lawyer for one of the defendants said Sunday.
Scott Fenstermaker, the lawyer for accused terrorist Ali Abd al-Aziz Ali, said the men would not deny their role in the 2001 attacks but "would explain what happened and why they did it."
This is diplomatic lawyer speak for the "terrorist will use this trial as a platform for propaganda".
A common strategy in rape trials is to put the victim on trial. It's one of the main reasons that we have so called "rape shield" laws. The defense in this case will try and use a similar strategy only there are no rape shield laws in this case.
So, the defense has all but telegraphed that the trial in New York City will be nothing more than a platform for the defendents to spew anti American propaganda. They won't challenge any of the evidence against them. Instead, they'll put America on trial. Unfortunately, there are no rape shield laws to protect us against this.

Its going to be rather hard to accomplish such a thing when Federal Courts don't allow cameras.
I don't mind anonymous comments however I'd love to know who is making all of these. These pseudo defenses of Democrats are amusing. The courts do however allow media to cover them and so cameras or not their story will get out. Moussaoui was also tried in Federal Court that was a circus and that trial was nothing more than propaganda either.
