Brown Says Goebbels Comment Jogging Talk

Jerry Brown is taking some heat after a San Francisco reporter published a quote attributed to him in which he compared his opponent, Meg Whitman's, spending on her campaign to Nazi propagandist Joseph Goebbels. Now, he's brushing the comments off as "jogging talk".

Brown's representatives did not deny the statement when asked directly about it but described it as "jogging talk" that was "taken out of context."

Whitman's campaign blast e-mailed the astonishing comment, which is sure to raise protests from California's Jewish voters over its light invocation of a notorious anti-Semite whose name is synonymous with engineering the Holocaust.

The Republican Jewish Coalition was quick to condemn the statement. The anti Defamation League hasn't made a statement yet. Brown was referencing Whitman's nearly unlimited campaign funds to use for all sorts of advertising.
