To all the people who are outraged by the "nanny state" taking away their right to high blood pressure through excess salt: Get a salt shaker! Use it as you will!
I'd say that's the fatal flaw in the law. That's an awfully easy way to get around it and yet the law would also a burden on restaurants. All the while, anyone that wants to have a plethora of salt could still get it.
I don't think you're seeing the point. Nobody debates that you're entitled to give yourself sodium poisoning. After all, its not like they're rationing salt.
ReplyDeleteBut what about people who *don't* want every meal to come with 150% of your recommended daily intake of salt? Nowdays its almost impossible to completely eliminate processed foods from your diet, so the least restaurants can do is give people the choice of adding the excess salt themselves.
Those people can eat at a plethora of healthy restaurants or ask that salt not be added.
ReplyDeleteThere's no shortage of healthy food. The problem isn't that we don't have choices. The problem is the choices we make.
