Video, Quote and Word of the Day

One of my favorite books is On The Road. That chronicles the adventures of Jack Kerouac and Neal Cassady. Cassady was the subject of a plethora of writings by folks like Kerouac. He popped up in the Electric Kool Aid Acid Test, another favorite, by Tom Wolfe. That chronicled Ken Kesey and his merry band of pranksters. Cassady rarely wrote anything himself, but was the subject of fascination by writers of the beatnik era and beyond. Here is rare footage of Cassady, who doesn't speak much, along with Allen Ginsberg.

In your clothes avoid too much gaudiness; do not value yourself upon an embroidered gown; and remember that a reasonable word, or an obliging look, will gain you more respect than all your fine trappings.
Sir George Savile
