As health care legislation moves out of the Senate Finance Committee, a majority of Americans says they oppose the reforms being considered. A Fox News poll released Thursday finds that by 54 percent to 35 percent, Americans oppose the reforms.
That's the worst polling for health care reform that I've seen, but it isn't the raw numbers that should really trouble the White House. Respondents were also asked what priorities they wanted the president to focus on. 40% wanted to focus on jobs, reducing the deficit came in 2nd at 25%, and health care reform was a distant third at 13%.
So, not only are the people rejecting Obamacare, but worse yet, the people are saying the president is out of touch. While the people are worried about jobs and about spending, the president wants to totally overhaul health care and spend about a trillion over the next ten years.
Beyond that, the poll found that about twice as many people 36-17 thought that health care reform would hurt their own health care than help it. So, this poll says that 1)the people don't like the current health care reform 2)the administration has its domestic priorities in the wrong place and 3)their policies will hurt the average American rather than help them. That's just not good.
If this is the case, why are Fox News and Rasmussen the only polling firms whose polls show this?
ReplyDeleteWith all due respect to Mr. Volpe, the polls are sidestepping the real problem, IMO. Please consider the following.
ReplyDeleteThe people, not Obama, are their own worse enemies where the big, corrupt federal government is concerned. In fact, the Obamacare roller-coaster that we've been "forced to ride" for the last several months has been entirely unnecessary, IMO. The reason that the Constitution is not protecting the people from Obamacare is because the people are not defending the Constitution.
More specifically, the people evidently no longer understand that the federal government has only those powers expressly delegated to it by the Constitution, most enumerated powers listed in Article I, Section 8. And since public healthcare is not mentioned in Section 8 or elsewhere, the 10th Amendment automatically reserves government power to regulate and lay taxes for healthcare to the states, not the Oval Office and Congress.
So a major difference between Obamacare and RomneyCare, for example, is that while RomneyCare is legal under the Constitution, Obamacare is not. But people don't seem to understand this.
Another indication of widespread constitutional ignorance concerning Obamacare is the following. The people don't understand that if Congress were to actually uphold their oaths to defend the Constitution, they would be required to do the following to try to establish national healthcare.
Since the federal Constitution is silent about public healthcare, Article V of the Constitution requires that Congress first propose to the states an amendment to the Constitution. The amendment would expressly give the feds the power to regulate and lay taxes for whatever they currently don't have the constitutional authority to do, healthcare in this example. (And the states can choose not to ratify any amendment that Congress proposes.)
The bottom line, however, is that corrupt Congress is getting away with establishing constitutionally unauthorized Obamacare, blatantly ignoring the Article V amendment process. Again, they are getting away with it because the people have forgotten that the Founders made the Constitution to limit the powers of the federal government.
And this is how we got ourselves into this big federal government mess, IMO. State sovereignty-ignorant voters have been electing lawmakers to both the state legislatures and the federal Senate who are as state sovereignty-impaired as the voters are. Consequently, these lawmakers have not been doing their jobs to protect state sovereignty by protecting citizens from illegal federal taxes and unconstitutional federal government interference in their lives as evidenced by illegal Obamacare.
Finally, the following link should help give people an idea how state sovereignty-ignorant voters have shot themselves in the foot with big, corrupt federal government as a consequence of the ill-conceived, anti-state sovereignty 16th and 17th Amendments.
The 16th & 17th Amendments and the big, corrupt fed. gov.
The second comment is very long and I don't know the point.
ReplyDeleteAs to the first, what are these two polls, Rasmussen and Opinion Dynamics, showing? I said that this poll has the worst overall numbers. I don't know that other polls ask the specific questions that this one did. No polls show that the public likes health care reform. No poll shows that health care is all that important among issues for the public. So, what exactly is so unique about this poll?
A Fox news poll you say?
ReplyDeleteYes.. I am sure the President is frightened?!?
Fox News didn't do the poll. Fox News is a media company. It's opnion dynamics, which has been a round a lot longer than fox news that did the poll. They've been doing polls for Fox News for many, many years as well. Just throwing out ad hominem attacks on Fox News is silly. If you have a problem with the sampling point it out. The story links to everything about the poll. do some analysis and let everyone know what's wrong.
