ACORN Fires Beth Butler

This is interesting because Beth Butler is the common law wife of Wade Rathke.

Controversial activist group ACORN has fired the longtime companion of founder Wade Rathke over apparent concerns about a lack of "accountability" in her work leading the Louisiana chapter in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.

Beth Butler was the director of that chapter and close to Rathke, whose brother Dale was accused of embezzling about $1 million from the group a decade ago.

Fox News uses a politically correct way of describing the relationship between Rathke and Butler. Remember, Rathke is a product of the '60's and so he's not a big fan of marriage. Butler and Rathke have lived together and have children for many, many years. They just never got married.

Butler was also one of several people that was made aware of the embezzlement of Dale Rathke when that information was kept among a close and tight knit group. She's been with ACORN for nearly four decades.

Bertha Lewis says that Butler was fired because of mismanagement of the Louisiana office in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. That's probably true but all of this happened about four years ago. So, the timing is peculiar. Meanwhile, Butler says that she was fired because she refused to fire people in charge of a land trust and accuses the powers that be of trying to get control of this trust before ACORN disintegrates.

Either way, there's a story here that hasn't been reported yet.
